Forest Kids (Autumn term)

About the sessions

This course has started but you can still join the remaining 4, fortnightly 1hr 45min sessions for parent (or important grown up) and children aged 6-11 years old (ish). Forest Kids sessions will progress from Forest Tots, with more tool work and the chance to develop forest school skills, such as knots and fire lighting. Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program (in this case 5 sessions over 9 weeks) that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting. I will always have lots of free access activities available, as well as one or two that I’ll show you and help you with. There’s no need to engage with all the activities, the sessions are very much child-led and responsive! Sessions will go ahead outside in all weathers. Only if the weather is exceptionally wet (so the site is flooded), or there are high winds or thunderstorms will I cancel a session, if I can’t move it to another safe location. Please do expect mud, leaves, sticks and lots of fun and wonder! My sessions include a forage themed hot drink for adults (or cold if it's super hot) and snack for everyone. Your booking form includes a section for allergies and dietary information so please do let me know anything important so I can make sure everyone is catered for! Sessions need a minimum of 6 participants to go ahead. In the event that a group is undersubscribed, I'll get in touch to talk about other possible sessions or to refund you.
