About the sessions
Six fortnightly 1hr 15min sessions for parent (or important grown up) and children aged 6-10 years old (ish). Forest Kids sessions will progress from Forest Tots, with more tool work and the chance to develop forest school skills, such as knots and fire lighting. Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program (in this case 5 sessions over 10 weeks) that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting. I will always have lots of free access activities available, as well as one or two that I’ll show you and help you with. There’s no need to engage with all the activities, the sessions are very much child-led and responsive! Sessions will go ahead outside in all weathers. Only if the weather is exceptionally wet (so the site is flooded), or there are high winds or thunderstorms will I cancel a session, if I can’t move it to another safe location. Please do expect mud, leaves, sticks and lots of fun and wonder! My sessions include a forage themed hot drink for adults (or cold if it's super hot) and snack for everyone. Your booking form includes a section for allergies and dietary information so please do let me know anything important so I can make sure everyone is catered for! Sessions need a minimum of 6 participants to go ahead. In the event that a group is undersubscribed, I'll get in touch to talk about other possible sessions or to refund you.
Forest School courses: Sessions are booked as a course and cannot be part refunded if you are unable to attend a session. In the event that I am unable to hold a session due to illness or COVID isolation requiring the whole group to be cancelled a replacement session on an alternative date will be offered. Forest School takes place in almost all weathers, however during high winds or extreme thunderstorms it may not be safe to go ahead. On these rare occasions the session will be cancelled and unfortunately no refunds can be offered. Family Days: Forest Days will go ahead outside in all weathers. Only if the weather is exceptionally wet (so the site is flooded), or there are high winds or thunderstorms will I cancel, if I can’t move it to another safe location. If I do need to cancel the day due to weather, or my need to isolate because of COVID, I will offer an alternative date, places on a subsequent family day or refund if you're not able to attend either alternative. Bookings are not refundable however wherever possible I will always try to reallocate your tickets to any waitlist running and refund you, but unfortunately I cannot guarantee this will always be possible.
