Autumn has arrived!

Such a fun start to the autumn term this saturday with all things squirrels and nuts, and some brilliant den building and clay work with the older group. Mixed success with our clay beads in the fire, trickier to perfect than it looks!

I love this term - crisp mornings, beautiful colours and so many wonderful autumn activities! And of course two of my favourite holidays: Halloween and Bonfire night.

Our sessions fall on the Saturday before Halloween (28th) so expect a lot of Halloween-y activities!

I have an adults Autumn craft session in the plotting for October/November. I've been playing with casting techniques with plaster of paris and willow weaving as some of you know! Pewter is next on my list for working with to create some special nature pieces to wear.

A few of you asked for the oatie biscuit recipe so here it is:

  • 100 grams porridge oats

  • 100 grams flour

  • 100 grams caster sugar

  • 100 grams butter

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon or other spice

It's a very forgiving recipe in which you can dial up or down various ingredients - I use less sugar and more oats. It can also take the addition of fruit, dried or fresh blackberries for example. Just mix together in a bowl ensuring the butter is softened first.

I usually add rose hip and use heather honey.

Looking forward to seeing you all in the woods on the 30th!

Cass x
